You can see when the device is offline by the crossed-out WiFi symbol and the status indicator at the bottom of the device. You will also see a warning symbol if an order was changed offline and has not yet been mirrored.
In general, all new orders and changes to orders made while a device is offline are immediately synchronized with each other as soon as the device goes back online. This works smoothly as long as different tables or orders are being handled. This is demonstrated in the following video:
Exceptional Cases:
There are theoretically unfortunate coincidences or exceptions when, at exactly the same time, multiple devices make changes on the same table and at least one of the devices is offline.
These are exceptional cases that can be avoided through good staff training and a stable internet connection.
⚠️ If this is not possible: If you have tables where your devices have no internet reception, always use the same device for the same tables. This way, you can avoid unplanned problems by ensuring that multiple (offline) registers never handle the same table. However, we recommend ensuring that your registers have internet reception everywhere, for example by installing a WiFi extender or by purchasing and installing SIM cards for your mobile register devices.
Thus, these offline cases can still occur in exceptional situations, for which the system requires a clear policy:
1) Taking an Order
If only one register is offline, the principle when taking an order is that the most recently made order wins.
We distinguish two cases:
Offline Register Orders After Online Register
Register 1 is offline. Afterwards, Register 2 (online) places an order on table 10. Register 1 is still offline and also places an order on table 10 after Register 2 has already completed the order. As soon as Register 1 goes back online, the order from the offline Register 1 is adopted for both registers because it completed the order last.
This example is demonstrated in the following video:
Offline Register Orders Before Online Register
Register 1 is offline and places an order on table 10 and completes it. Afterwards, Register 2 (online) also places an order on table 10. As soon as Register 1 goes back online, its order on table 10 is removed and replaced by the later order on Register 2, as Register 2 completed the order last.
This example is demonstrated in the following video:
Then there is another exceptional case: Both/all registers are offline, which is more complicated.
Registers Are Offline
Each time a register goes online, for every new order made during offline time it is checked whether there is already an order on the table. If yes, it is further checked whether the local order was created before or after the first mirroring of the already existing order. If it was made after the first mirroring, it is adopted; if not, it is discarded and the order on the other register is applied.
Example:
Registers 1 and 2 are both offline. Register 1 makes an order on table 1, then Register 2 also makes an order on the same table. Register 1 goes online first, then Register 2. Now, the order on Register 1 was made before the order on Register 2 was mirrored for the first time. Therefore, the order on Register 1 is discarded and the order from Register 2 is applied.
This example is demonstrated in the following video:
2) Adjusting an Order
If a device adjusts an order while it is offline and another online device adjusts the same order during that time, then the change from the online device is always adopted. The change from the offline device is discarded.
If both devices make an adjustment offline on the same table, then the change from the device that goes online first is adopted.
3) Payment Process
If a table is paid on an offline device, the corresponding register transaction is immediately saved when the device goes back online.
If during this time the same order is adjusted on another device, the entire order remains intact even after the device where the table was paid offline goes back online.
